A letter to 30 year old self – 10 years ago

Dear self,
I know 08.08.2025 will have lots of ‘aha’moments. I hope you have mastered that, only time tells.

Your 20s will be quite a journey. A rollercoaster, a movie with you as the main cast. It is a decade that you will have this determination of defining yourself academically and professionally. As a person driven by purpose, you will find it. It might not unfold as you envisioned but you got to trust the author. He is perfect and, He has a serious sense of humour. But, He gatchu.

In other aspects you will fail and make lots of mistakes. You will cry alot, soak your pillow literally with tears. You will have moments you will even doubt your faith in God because you will wonder where is He while some things happen. You will notice cycles, patterns and loops mostly around your social life that you will only overcome once you find yourself and heal. Healing is painful babes and it is a journey. You will have to process your childhood trauma and that will be the most freeing gift you will ever give yourself. Look, forgiveness is in the Lord’s prayer for a reason. Don’t let yourself be a bitter woman- very unattractive.

You see those loved ones you think you will stick by each other forever to celebrate life milestones? Babes, you will lose most of them. You will realise that some relationships are seasonal and it is okay to let go when the season is over. I know you dread to be a keeper but you will have to learn to let go. The beauty is, God will keep blessing you with new purposeful relationships. You will never be alone. You will also realise that there is so much love around you and stop defining love from one perspective. When you realise this, you will have a heart of repentant gratitude for not having seen this for so long. You will learn to nurture the love around you and not take it for granted.

Eventually, you will learn at the end of your 20s that, peaceful life is a BLESSING! You will thrive in calmness and stillness. You can not put up with chaos anymore- you will guard your energy at all cost. Also, you will understand how a purposeful life is fulfilling. Jeremiah 29:11 will start to be a prayer that you intentionally live by. You will relax and let God continue writing your story. Literally, Phillipians 4:6-7 word by word. Despite all your chaos in your 20s, you held on God even when you felt you did not deserve it. Beauty is, He will always be there.

Remember, 30 years is a very symbolic milestone spiritually. You will need God even more than before for grounding. Cheers to your 30s! They will not be perfect because that is just life. One thing I am sure though is, you will keep getting better. I assure you, you will do well. Again, it will keep getting better.

So, see you on the other side of your 40s- another symbolic milestone with a beautiful letter waiting for you to read.
